Two hospitalized after collision on Highway 104

QUILCENE — Two people were taken to hospitals following a collision on state Highway 104 at Center Loop Road.

Gale McGranahan, 78, of Port Townsend was traveling eastbound on Highway 104 in a 2016 Honda Fit about 3:34 p.m. Monday when she attempted to turn left onto northbound Center Loop Road and collided with another vehicle, the State Patrol said.

Kathleen Gallagher, 81, of Sequim was traveling westbound on Highway 104 at Center Loop Road in a 2015 Toyota Rav4 when her vehicle was struck, the State Patrol said.

Both vehicles partially blocked westbound Highway 104, the State Patrol said.

McGranahan was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, and Gallagher was transported to St. Michael Medical Center in Silverdale, the State Patrol said.

McGranahan was listed Tuesday in satisfactory condition at Harborview, hospital spokesperson Susan Gregg said.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts, the State Patrol said. Neither drugs nor alcohol were involved, the agency added.

The State Patrol cited the cause as a failure to yield.

Both vehicles were totally destroyed and towed from the scene, the State Patrol said.
