Two arrested in burglary at Clallam Bay Liquor Store

PORT ANGELES — Two Sekiu residents have been arrested for investigation of second-degree burglary, third-degree malicious mischief and third-degree theft for allegedly breaking into the Clallam Bay Liquor Store and taking two bottles of liquor early Sunday morning, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office said.

Jason Weidman, 34, and Jeanna Rudge, 43, have been released from the Clallam County jail since their arrests Monday.

No charges had been filed as of Tuesday.

County Chief Criminal Deputy Prosecuting Attorney John Troberg was not immediately available for comment late Tuesday.

Deputies were dispatched at 2:54 a.m. Sunday after a neighbor who lives in an apartment adjoining the liquor store reported hearing someone inside, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Rock-throwing

The investigating de-puty determined that entry had been made by throwing a rock through the front window of the business at 16713 state Highway 112.

“While inside the business, the suspects obtained two bottles of liquor before being interrupted by the neighboring resident’s dog which had been set loose outside of the residence after calling 9-1-1,” Sheriff’s Sgt. Brian King said in a news release.

Deputy Ron Cameron Jr. identified Weidman and Rudge in the immediate vicinity after the burglary. They initially denied any knowledge or involvement in the burglary and were released, King said.

Acting on numerous tips from the Clallam Bay community, Cameron developed probable cause for the arrests, the news release said.

Weidman and Rudge were arrested without incident at their Sekiu-area homes.

The two bottles of liquor have been recovered, King said.
