PORT ANGELES — Sunrise Meats, Inc. of Port Angeles is recalling some of its smoked wild white king salmon due to possible contamination with Listeria monocytogenes.
The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the state Department of Agriculture discovered the contamination.
Sunrise Meats has not received any reports of illness associated with the recall, according to a press release from the company.
People who have Sunrise Meats Inc. Smoked Wild White King Salmon with sell by/use by date of July 21, 2025, are advised to not eat the product and to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Listeria monocytogenes is a Gram-positive bacteria that can cause listeriosis, a potentially fatal intestinal infection.
Listeriosis can cause diarrhea and other gastrointestinal symptoms.
Invasive infections can spread beyond the intestinal tract and cause fever, muscle aches, headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance and convulsions.
