PORT ANGELES — Saturday’s fourth annual Airport Day and Fly-In at Fairchild International Airport will feature a slide show presentation by two members of World War II’s renowned Tuskegee Airmen.
Lt. Col. William Hugo Holloman III and Lt. Col. Edward P. Drummond Jr. will speak at noon and 2:30 p.m.
The tentative location is Hangar 703 at William R. Fairchild International Airport west of central Port Angeles.
“The Tuskegee Airmen are about the most popular World War II guys around now,” said Gene Rimov, Clallam County Pilots Association president and one of the event organizers.
The Airmen, the first African Americans to train as military pilots, escorted bombers to World War II targets. They never lost a bomber to enemy aircraft.
