PORT ANGELES — A sizable multi-agency law enforcement presence is at North Jones Street and Columbia Street in Port Angeles this week.
Port Angeles Police Department (PAPD) had about eight vehicles at the scene Monday, Deputy Police Chief Jason Viada said.
“It’s an open, active investigation,” he said. “I’m not really ready to give a lot of details about it because it’s still open and active.”
PAPD was still on the scene on Tuesday, he said. Viada said he was unable to disclose the names of the other agencies on the scene.
“The city of Port Angeles is utilizing our incident command vehicle and they are conducting an investigation down there,” Clallam County Sheriff Brian King said. “The details of the investigation, I don’t know.”
The sheriff’s office was not otherwise involved, King added.
Washington State Patrol was not part of the investigation, public information officer Katherine Weatherwax said.
The Washington state Attorney General’s Office gave the following statement when asked about their presence on the scene.
“The office’s (Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and People) cold case team has been working with the city to support an active missing person investigation,” Deputy Communications Director Mike Faulk wrote in an email.
