OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK — As part of routine maintenance of park facilities, the water tanks at the Heart O” the Hills, Fairholm, Hoh and Mora areas will be drained for general maintenance and re-painting during the next several weeks.
The work is weather dependent, and specific work dates have not been determined for the Mora and Hoh areas, said Park spokeswoman Barb Maynes.
Updated information will be released when it becomes available.
The Heart O’ the Hills campground will close Friday for approximately three weeks to allow the contracted crew to drain the water tank for cleaning, repair and repainting.
“We apologize to our visitors for the inconvenience this might cause, but ask for their understanding as we work to improve and maintain park facilities,” said Olympic National Park Superintendent Bill Laitner.
The Mora campground will remain open while the water tanks are drained in November, but water will not be available.
Portable toilets will be installed while work takes place.
No campground fees will be charged during this time.
