PORT HADLOCK — Radio host, producer, and musical journalist Amanda Wilde will present the final 2015 Inquiring Mind lecture at Jefferson County Library on Wednesday.
Wilde will present “Washington’s Music Pioneers” at 6:30 p.m. at the library at 620 Cedar Ave., Port Hadlock.
Admission is free. Seating is limited, so attendees are urged to arrive early.
Washington state holds the unique position of being ‘on the edge of the world’ from both musical and geographic standpoints, according to Wilde.
This placement provided a rich breeding ground for three distinct and revolutionary artists who pushed artistic and technological limits to forge new musical and cultural territory, she said.
Wilde will discuss the music of Bing Crosby, Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain, all of Washington state.
She will show how they have influenced the technology, business and notoriety of the state.
Wilde hosted the afternoon drive show at Seattle music station KEXP for 12 years.
In 2003, Wilde joined KUOW where she hosts and produces the music program “The Swing Years and Beyond.”
