PORT ANGELES — Homes and jobs will be the focus at the Annual Forum on Ending Homelessness on Wednesday.
The free forum, which is open to the public, will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Lighthouse Christian Center, 304 Viewcrest Ave., Port Angeles.
Cheryl Bozarth, executive director of Dove House Advocacy Services, will speak about the services and housing provided by the Port Townsend agency.
The agency offers free crisis intervention and advocacy to victims of domestic and sexual violence while working for the elimination of violence through education and social change.
Employment as a catalyst for ending homelessness will be the topic of a presentation led by Mark Putnam, Economic Opportunities Initiative manager for Building Changes, a Seattle-based nonprofit working on housing issues statewide.
Building Changes soon will announce funding for several rural counties for capacity building around job training and employment services to homeless and at-risk households.
Greg Winter, director of the Whatcom Homeless Service Center, will return for a joint report on progress achieved in the past year as Whatcom and Clallam work together on several new projects serving homeless people.
Local landlords and property managers also will participate in the forum, leading a discussion on the importance of developing the community housing inventory and creating access for homeless and at-risk households.
