PORT ANGELES — Fire commissioners in Clallam and Jefferson counties have formed the Olympic Peninsula Fire Commissioners Association to enhance communication between fire districts across the region.
The association is not a decision-making body.
The association, which was officially formed last August, is designed to foster the participation of all duly elected or appointed fire commissioners, regional fire authority governance board members and other elected or appointed officials of emergency services organizations within the state’s 24th Legislative District.
The association currently has members from six fire districts in Clallam County and two in Jefferson County.
Membership is open to other districts within the 24th Legislative District, which includes all of Clallam and Jefferson counties and most of Grays Harbor County.
The association meets monthly with members providing district updates, suggestions for collaboration and guest speakers on a range of topics.
Other groups or individuals involved in activities related to fire protection, emergency preparedness or emergency medical services may join as associate members.
