LETTER: Stoffer’s experience needed on Sequim School Board

Sequim schools are in transition with our superintendent position and elections that will bring in two new board members, with the remaining two members having only two years’ experience.

We, the citizens of the Sequim School District, need to elect a board that is willing to work cooperatively, utilize the guidance of the Washington State School Board Directors Association and become knowledgeable about the position of the superintendent in building his goals and evaluation.

Jim Stoffer has 4 years’ experience on the board and has training through WSSDA in Individual School Board Standards and building a system of evaluation and transparency to support those standards.

He has been through the process of learning about all of the district departments and the board’s job in supporting the district.

He has been the legislative representative to WSSDA and has actively involved our student representatives and our board with our legislators.

He has also been very involved over many years in study of our buildings and the need to build a plan for updating our facilities.

I believe that Jim Stoffer will continue to work for the excellence Sequim wants for our schools.

Please vote for Jim.

Bev Horan,
