LETTER: Letter was compilation of half truths

The Oct. 10-11 letter “Desperate Dems” was a compilation of half-truths.

The writer said efforts to impeach Trump are crazy for several reasons.

He credits Trump with a booming economy that is actually a continuation of the Obama economy that expanded from the bottom of the 2009 great recession until now.

Yes, jobs and salaries are increasing but mostly for high wage earners. Many workers are barely keeping up with expenses.

Too many people have to work two or three jobs to keep afloat.

The writer said government expenses are down, but deficit spending under the Trump administration will reduce living standards for future generations.

He brags about the lower numbers of people on food stamps, but Trump is planning to remove more than 3 million struggling families from the program.

Regulatory restrictions are being reduced or eliminated as the writer claims.

However, the lack of sufficient regulations on financial institutions allowed them to defraud American home buyers and owners, resulting in collapse of the mortgage industry and the great recession.

The Bush and Obama administrations stopped an impending economic depression, saving the automobile industry and millions of jobs.

Trump is eliminating financial regulations that could result in another housing bubble and recession.

The Mueller Report found no conspiracy, as the writer claims.

However, it described at least four of Trump’s actions that constitute obstruction of justice.

It is also clear to me that Trump is violating the U.S. Constitution’s emoluments clause and campaign finance laws.

All these are serious impeachable offenses.
