I read with astonishment in the recent PDN Voter Guide that Clallam Fire District 3 Commissioner Jim Barnfather had this to say about his opponent Bill Miano: “I get unsettled when newcomers appear and tell us how they would do things differently or what we need.”
This statement shows lack of leadership and education about the fire service and the district he is supposed to be serving. The National Fire Protection Association sets standards for fire departments nationwide.
These standards are the minimum fire departments should achieve and what are often quoted by Bill Miano.
My family, the Bower family, has been here on the Olympic Peninsula for 106 years.
Yet I do not go around and attempt to dictate who is a newcomer and who is not.
Instead, I make informed decisions about who to support for public office.
Bill Miano has the experience, education, and background to be a solid fire commissioner.
Don’t get caught up in political attacks and smear campaigns. Instead, join me in voting for a commissioner that will work to make all of us safer, Bill Miano.
