Governor Jay Inslee wants to make Washington taxpayers pay over $4 million additionally to increase his protective detail from 9 to 17 as he runs for president.
Is this run for president just to satisfy Inslee’s vanity, or does he have any realistic chance to even be nominated?
He is polling under 1 percent, not even making the top 15 Democrat candidates.
Inslee’s dismal polling numbers do not meet the criteria for him to be considered a “major presidential candidate” entitled to Secret Service protection.
Why should we pay over $4 million to provide him protection he would not have if he were any other candidate?
Inslee is paid over $170,000 a year, compared to an average salary for all U.S. governors of less than $130,000.
Will he be earning his salary over the next 16 months by working full-time for us, or will he be moonlighting during working hours on his presidential run?
Elected public servants should live by the same rules as they want to impose on the voters whom they work for.
Inslee’s positions on gun control are clear.
Inslee’s protective detail will be armed with incredibly dangerous semi-automatic weapons that fire a lethal bullet every single time you pull the trigger.
I suspect they may also have magazines holding more than 10 rounds.
To practice what he preaches, Inslee’s bodyguards should be armed with single-shot pistols that are locked away until use, as Inslee and his gun control friends would have the little people, us, do.
