LETTER: Hats off to Neah Bay

I just want to express my appreciation for the success that both the high school girls and boys athletic teams have experienced for several years now.

My tribute is not solely meant for just the kids.

As the old saying goes, “It takes a village.”

You can’t possibly experience that much success without a lot of community involvement and support. From coaches to statisticians to managers to fundraisers to the fans.

It takes a lot of moving pieces to win that much state hardware.

My dad coached at Chimacum back in the good old North Olympic League.

While Neah Bay’s teams never seemed to have much height in those days.

Dad always said that if you weren’t in good shape, they would run you right out of the gym, and sometimes they did.

My memory of Red Devil fans are that they were always jolly and friendly, and I am really happy for their success.

This old Chimacum Cowboy wishes you the best at keeping it going.
