LETTER: Fascism history

I was shocked and appalled at the ridiculous revisionist history you printed Feb. 28, “What Exactly is Fascism?”

The premise of the piece is that fascism is “a revolt against socialism,” and the world is divided into the fascist bad guys who believe in capitalism, racism and national pride, and the socialist good guys who fight for justice and equality for all the oppressed little people.

This view is, as Joe Biden calls the virtuous and truthful 1776 Commission, “offensive and counter-factual.”

Socialist political ideology is the birth mother of all modern totalitarianism, whether it’s left wing communism or right wing fascism.

The Nazis were the “National Socialist Party,” a fact conveniently omitted by the author of the piece.

In Friedrich Hayek’s classic book, “The Road to Serfdom,” he dedicates a whole chapter to “The Socialist Roots of Naziism.”

I recommend this book to anyone who cares about freedom.

This article is nothing but a transparent attempt to demonize American capitalism and patriotism, to associate them with racism, and define everyone who values them as fascists.

Then socialism is presented as the cure to all life’s ills when it is in fact a totalitarian whirlpool of hell.

Shame on the Peninsula Daily News for printing this trash.
