LETTER: Court ruling correct

This is in response to the recent letter, “It’s Creepy” (PDN, April 21) regarding the judicial decision not allowing the Navy to use Washington state parks for exercises.

I feel it is the right decision by the court due to the Navy’s continued want to do as they wish on their own schedule.

I convey this from my personal observations as a former resident of Whidbey Island, where one of their bases and pilot training runway are located, and as a volunteer for the state parks system.

Having troops use state parks as their training grounds without providing notice to park users or staff made no sense.

These parks are not simply state land, they are well-maintained facilities for public use governed by a commission with a specific goal and mission.

Feel free to see them online at https://parks.wa.gov/176/Mission-vision.

Please get the facts before deciding which side you believe is in the wrong.
