LETTER: Celebrate the delight in discovering exotic things

The article by Diane Urbani de le Paz (“Seeing New Worlds Via College Program”) published in the Peninsula Daily News on Oct. 4 about her trip to Cuba is a good read.

It is a well-written expression of her delight in moments of discovering things quite exotic to our daily existence.

It is also heartening to us, in the older generation (I am more than two generations elder to her), to see that not all of her generation has become jaded by the irrelevance of most of the traffic on the internet and social media.

Perhaps we old folks didn’t do too bad raising kids after all.

I also commend Diane that there is lots more good stuff to discover in Asian and Arabic cultures.
