Why is it important that we vote for someone with the experience and hard-earned knowledge of a lifetime?
Voting for someone simply because we like them is what gets us into trouble, and we end up kicking ourselves in the pants later.
Port of Port Townsend Commissioner Brad Clinefelter has the right qualifications.
He has done a superb job at not only questioning and challenging run-amok expenses but also trying very hard to cut those expenses and direct funds to needed repairs, with adherence to environmental laws for the protection of the workers, yard customers and waterways.
His insistence to hire Sam Gibboney as port director was a wise and critical decision that took guts.
I admire his chutzpah.
But most of all, I am delighted to have a commissioner who responds to queries, even from folks not in his district.
