Port Angeles library to host reception for exhibition

PORT ANGELES — North Olympic Library System will host a reception for “Love/Rage/Us” from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.

The free event will be at the Port Angeles Main Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., Port Angeles.

The reception will feature a poetry reading by Jaiden Dokken and live music by Whump.

The multimedia exhibition, which will feature poetry, paintings, ceramic sculptures and fiber art by Dokken, the Clallam County poet laureate, will remain on display during regular library hours through the end of May.

“’Love/Rage/Us’ is an ode to the hot neon glow of the ways we love and rage together for better tomorrows,” Dokken said. “Come peek at the soft underbelly of the tough stuff, the calloused edges of the good stuff, and all the ways they layer together to create us.”

Whump, a Peninsula-based band that blends funk and jazz, is composed of Daniel Csizmadia, vocals and guitar, Peter Beeler, vocals and drums, and Jason Taylor, vocals and bass.
