Photographer talk to launch teen contest at library

PORT HADLOCK — An Evening with Keith Lazelle, nature photographer, will kick off the Jefferson County Library’s second annual Teen Photography contest at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Lazelle, a Quilcene resident, will make his presentation at the Jefferson County Library, 620 Cedar Ave.

Lazelle’s work evokes feelings of peace, while providing the viewer with a closer connection to the environment, organizers said.

Lazelle’s three decades of work have involved a wide variety of clients such as Audubon, Alaska Airlines Magazine, Eddie Bauer, Hoh River Trust, Outside Magazine and The Nature Conservancy.

Lazelle’s art will be on exhibit to support teen photographers who will receive his guidance for this year’s Teen Photography Contest.

The photo contest theme is Light. Lazelle will stress the importance of using light to the teen participants as they incorporate it into their photo entries.

The contest deadline is 8 p.m. May 7.

Photographers must be 18 years of age or younger. Only photographs — no mats or frames — will be accepted. Prints can be no longer than 14 inches on the longest side. The photos may be in black-and-white or color.

Photo entries must include the photographer’s name, email address and phone number. Images are to be emailed to rstamp@jclibrary.info or dropped by the library by the deadline.

Each photo must be acceptable for public viewing by all age groups or it will not be displayed.

For more information, call 360-385-6544 or go to www.jclibrary.info.
