Fire District 2 joins Port Angeles Operation Candy Cane

PORT ANGELES — Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue will join in the Operation Candy Cane food drive on Friday and Saturday.

Santa, his firefighter helpers and a decorated engine will collect food donations at Grocery Outlet, 2823 E. Highway 101 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Friday and at the Lower Elwha Food and Fuel, 4772 S. Dry Creek Road from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Donated food will benefit local food banks.

Operation Candy Cane is undertaken by the Port Angeles Professional Firefighters Local 656 volunteer firefighters, who have traveled Port Angeles neighborhoods taking donations each night since Saturday.

They have traveled the streets on a decorated 1956 Seagrave fire engine beginning at 5:30 p.m. each evening, handing out candy canes to those who come out to meet them, while collecting cans of food or money for the local food banks.

Today is the final day. Firefighters will be above Lauridsen Boulevard.

Clallam County Fire District 3 firefighters and volunteers finished their Santa’s Toy and Food Fire Brigade last week.

They collected donations for Sequim Community Aid’s Toys for Sequim Kids and monetary donations for Sequim Food Bank.

Toys for Sequim Kids was from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday at the Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road.
