Home invasion suspect arrested in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — A 61-year-old Port Angeles man was arrested on investigation of residential burglary, third-degree theft and third-degree malicious mischief after a homeowner held him at gunpoint.

Rocky Sindars, who has a criminal history dating back to 1984, was being held Tuesday in the Clallam County jail, according to court records.

Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies responded at about 2:50 a.m. Monday to a residence in the 2000 block of East Ennis Creek Road, where the homeowner told 9-1-1 dispatchers he was holding Sindars at gunpoint.

Deputies arrived two minutes later and arrested Sindars.

An investigation revealed that Sindars allegedly forced entry through one of the windows at the front of the house before he entered the home, the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office stated in a press release.

The homeowner woke up and heard noises inside his home, armed himself and found Sindars inside.

Prior to his arrest, Sindars was found to be in possession of items belonging to the homeowner, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Sindars has eight felony convictions including theft, assaults and manufacturing, delivering or possession of drugs, the Sheriff’s Office said. He has 17 gross misdemeanor and seven misdemeanor convictions, the Sheriff’s Office said.
