Sequim man charged with six counts of child rape

PORT ANGELES — A Sequim man is facing six counts of third-degree child rape, a Class C felony punishable by up to five years imprisonment and/or a $10,000 fine, plus restitution and assessments.

Lazarus C. Rocha, 20, had the charges added Monday as he already was in Clallam County jail for investigation of DUI, eluding police, possession of a stolen vehicle, reckless endangerment, first-degree no valid driver’s license and second-degree taking a motor vehicle without permission.

Rocha is scheduled for arraignment at 1 p.m. May 31 in Clallam County Superior Court. His total bail is $60,000.

A five-year no contact order against the victim also was entered, and if he posts bail, Rocha is to have no contact with girls younger than 16.

According to the court filing of information, six incidents of sexual intercourse occurred between the suspect and the victim on or between March 26 and March 29 at a home in Sequim.

The incidents first were reported to the Sequim Police Department on April 4.
