Returned Peace Corps workers invited to get-together at home

PORT ANGELES — Returned Peace Corps Volunteers — from any era in the Peace Corps’ 51 years of existence — are invited to a casual gathering at the Port Angeles home of Norma and Gene Turner next Sunday, Aug. 12.

The RPCV potluck will start at 4 p.m., and there’s no program, no protocol and no agenda; it’s simply an excuse to meet other RPCVs on the North Olympic Peninsula, said Judith Morris, an organizer of the get-together.

Former Peace Corps workers are plentiful here.

Gene Turner was a staff doctor in Ecuador, while Morris and her husband, David, were volunteers in Malawi.

David Morris, former Olympic National Park superintendent, was later the Peace Corps country director in Zambia.

Next Sunday, party-goers are welcome to bring a dish to share, meat or vegetables to toss onto the barbecue grill, chairs and, perhaps most important, photographs from their time in the Peace Corps.
