PORT ANGELES — Clallam County Extension Director Clea Rome will talk about protecting the soil in gardens when she speaks at noon today.
Rome will speak in the county commissioners’ meeting room, Room 160, at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.
The presentation is free. Donations to help defray the costs of copying and handouts are welcome.
Rome will present information on the types of cover crops and mulches home gardeners can use to increase crop productivity, improve soil fertility and reduce maintenance in the garden.
Rome, who holds a master’s degree in landscape architecture, worked for the Soil Conservation District before becoming the county Extension director in 2013.
This program is part of the Washington State University Clallam County Master Gardeners’ “Green Thumb Garden Tips” brown-bag educational series, offered from noon to 1 p.m. the second and fourth Thursday of each month.
