Chip sealing to begin today between Forks, La Push

FORKS — Work crews will begin road preservation work between Forks and La Push at 6 a.m. today.

The work on state Highway 110, and the 110 spur route, will continue until noon Friday and will resume Sept. 3-6, according to a press release from the state Department of Transportation.

During the chip-sealing, drivers can expect to see a reduced speed limit of 35 mph and alternating single-lane traffic controlled by a pilot car.

WSDOT recommends drivers allow an additional 30 minutes to drive through the work zone.

Chip sealing repairs cracks and rutting of the driving surface, provides an anti-glare surface during wet weather, provides increased reflective surface for night driving and helps prevent water damage to the highway, WSDOT said.
