TONASKET — The Forks boys wrestling team made a 400-mile long road trip to north-central Washington, finishing second in the Tonasket Apple Pie tournament this weekend.

Forks only won one weight division, but picked up three second-place finishes and a pair of thirds to finish with 140 points. Tonasket, another 2B school, won with 229 points, while Okanogan had 115.5 and Lake Roosevelt 100.5. A total of 13 schools competed, mostly from wrestling-crazy central and eastern Washington.

Hayden Queen was a winner for the Spartans, finishing first at 182 pounds. Queen went 3-0 on the day and won his weight championship with a pin over Sergio Galicia of Lake Roosevelt.

Conner Demorest didn’t lose a match on the day, having to forfeit his championship bout on an injury default to finish in second place at 120 pounds. Jake Weakley went 2-1 at 152 pounds and finished second, while Sloan Tumaua at 220 pounds went 2-1 and finished second.

Coming in third were Dalton Kilmer at 132 pounds and Walker Wheeler at 138 pounds. Both Spartans went 3-1 on the day.

Forks is next scheduled to wrestle at a Pacific 2B League meet in Ocosta on Wednesday.
