SEQUIM — “Bowin’ the Blues,” “Knick Knack Waltz,” “Elegy and Dance” — these are a few of the tunes on the program for the Sequim Community Orchestra’s Beginning Strings concert Thursday evening.

The fourth- and fifth-graders in this Sequim after-school music program will step up to play at 6 p.m. in the Greywolf Elementary School gym, 171 Carlsborg Road.

The concert, to run about 45 minutes, is free and open to the public.

At Greywolf, “we offer free instruction to violin, viola, cello and string bass players on Tuesdays and Thursdays,” said Lilias Green, Sequim Community Orchestra board member.

“This program is continuing to grow and flourish,” while Thursday’s concert is a chance for parents of elementary and middle school-age children to meet the teachers and find out more.

The Beginning Strings program will resume in October soon after school starts, Green added.
