PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula College men’s soccer won a share of the Northwest Athletic Conference West Division championship for the sixth straight year.

The Pirates (9-1-3, 12-1-4) finished tied with Highline (9-1-3, 9-2-4) after the Thunderbirds and Tacoma played to a 0-0 draw Saturday.

Peninsula will still have the division’s second seed at the NWAC playoffs, which begin this week, and Highline will have a first-round bye.

The third-ranked Pirates will open the tournament with a home match against Pierce (4-9-1, 4-11-1) on Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Wally Sigmar Field.

If Peninsula wins, it will move on to face top-ranked North Idaho (13-1-1, 15-1-2) on Saturday in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Kanyon Anderson would quickly return to Port Angeles for the top-ranked Peninsula women’s (15-1-2, 17-1-2) match Sunday at 1 p.m. at Wally Sigmar Field against the winner of Wednesday’s match between Treasure Valley (12-3-3, 15-3-3) and Edmonds (10-5-2, 12-5-2).

If the Peninsula men lose Wednesday, the women’s game will be played Saturday at 1 p.m.
