Published 12:01 am Saturday, September 13, 2014

FORKS — The Olympic Natural Resources Center, 1455 S. Forks Ave., will host two interactive programs on astronomy Saturday.

A family-focused program is from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., with a later program for adults from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Admission is free.

University of Washington graduate students from the Department of Astronomy will lead science-based experiences to discover more about the skies above.

The presenters are Rodrigo Luger, Kristen Garofali, Nell Byler and Grace Telford.

They are bringing their mobile planetarium to provide a close-up view of the night sky.

They also will be bringing a telescope and have other activities.

The planetarium shows are about 20 minutes long, so groups of people can cycle through the performances or come back in for repeat viewings.

In addition to the planetarium show, activities will include a PowerPoint presentation and the use of a telescope.

The afternoon session will include child-focused presentations and activities, while the evening session will include more in-depth presentations.
