Registration open for Peninsula College Crab Run on Oct. 11 in Port Angeles

PORT ANGELES — Registration is being accepted for Peninsula College’s Crab Fest 5K Fun Run set for Saturday, Oct. 11.

The run, scheduled in conjunction with the 13th annual Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival, which will run from Oct. 10-13 at Lincoln Street and Railroad Avenue, will start at the beginning of the Waterfront Trail at City Pier at 11 a.m.

Registration fees

The fee is $30 prior to Oct. 1 and $35 after that. Runners also can register on the day of the race starting at 10 a.m.

Proceeds will support the college’s women’s basketball team and student-athlete scholarships.

Each registered runner will receive a gift bag with a T-shirt, a $5 coupon towards the festival’s crab dinner, a free run at the children’s Crab Derby and a drink ticket good for one glass of beer, wine or soft drink.

Those who register on the day of the race may have a limited selection of T-shirt sizes and styles to choose from.

All ages, styles

The 5K is open to all ages and running styles. The course will be an out-and-back along the waterfront trail in downtown Port Angeles.

Prizes will be awarded in four separate divisions: under 40/over 40 women and under 40/over 40 men.

In each category, the winning runner will receive two free crab dinners and season passes to the men’s/women’s basketball 2014-15 season.
