PORT TOWNSEND — The driver of a pickup truck that hit a tree on Cape George Road at about 2:50 p.m. Christmas Day was not hurt, according to East Jefferson Fire-Rescue.

The driver, an 18-year-old Port Townsend man traveling alone, was not identified.

Medics with the fire district evaluated his condition and then turned the case over to the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, said Bill Beezley, spokesman for the fire department.

The sheriff’s office did not respond to requests for information Thursday.

Beezley said the driver told firefighters the truck drifted off the right side of the road as he drove south, he over-corrected and hit a tree.
