THE JEFFERSON COUNTY Auditor’s Office sent out 8,160 ballots Wednesday to Chimacum School District voters, in addition to 75 military ballots that were mailed Jan. 11, said Auditor Donna Eldridge.

A 60 percent supermajority is required for the levy to pass, Eldridge said.

The current levy expires at the end of this school year.

The new proposal is asking voters to approve a three-year, $5.7 million maintenance and operations levy.

Ballots can be returned through the mail but must be postmarked by Feb. 7, or they can be placed in a ballot drop box on Feb. 7 that will be located in front of the county courthouse at 1820 Jefferson St., Port Townsend.
