Defective part blamed for Internet service shutdown in Port Townsend area

CableSpeed Internet service went out for six hours on Wednesday, cutting off e-mail and Web access to most Port Townsend-area Millennium Digital Media cable customers.

The outage occurred after a CableSpeed repair crew attempted to replace an old part with a new one that was defective, a Millennium Digital spokesperson reported.

The server went down around 11 a.m. and service resumed about 5 p.m.

Millennium CableSpeed gives its customers speeds of up to 50 times faster than a dial-up computer modem by connecting through cable TV wires.
