PORT TOWNSEND — Low tides are prompting changes to Port Townsend-Keystone ferry service into early next week.

Low tides, in addition to cross currents at the entrance to the Keystone terminal, make access to the Whidbey Island stop difficult.

As a result, Washington State Ferries officials have canceled the 6:30 a.m. and 8 a.m. Port Townsend sailings today and Thursday as well as the 8:45 a.m. return from Keystone on Thursday.

Ferries officials have added 5:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. Port Townsend sailings today to replace the canceled runs.

A 6:15 a.m. Port Townsend sailing has been added for Thursday.

On Friday and Saturday, the 8 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. Port Townsend sailings have been canceled as have the 8:45 a.m. return sailings both days.

Officials have also canceled the 10:15 a.m. Keystone sailing Friday.

An extra 9:40 a.m. sailing has been added from Port Townsend on Friday.

Low tides continue affecting ferry service Sunday and Monday.

Ferries officials have canceled the 9:30 a.m. Port Townsend sailing and its 10:15 a.m. return trip both days.

On Monday, the 10:30 a.m. Port Townsend sailing and its 11:15 a.m. return trip and the 11:15 a.m. Port Townsend sailing and its noon return trip have also been canceled.
