Port Townsend: Fog keeps ferry from making appointed rounds

The Klickitat made only one run of 20 on the Port Townsend-Keystone ferry Thursday.

As heavy fog blanketed the area, the ferry left from Port Townsend at 2:15 p.m. and returned from Keystone at 3 p.m.

Another run attempted to leave Port Townsend at 3:45 p.m., but the Klicitat turned back because of the fog.

On Wednesday, only six of 20 trips leaving from Port Townsend and Keystone were completed because of the heavy fog.

Ferry officials said Thursday the run will continue to operate on a “ferry by ferry” basis should fog persist.

Heavy fog has also affected the Kingston-Edmonds run, causing operational delays, officials said.
