Convicted murderer Robert Froehlich is scheduled to appear in Jefferson County Superior Court in Port Townsend on Friday for a sentencing hearing.

Froehlich, 29, formerly of Quilcene, was convicted Feb. 21 of second-degree murder in the 1992 stabbing death of 15-year-old Allison Tornensis.

Froehlich faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

The sentencing hearing begins at 2 p.m. in front of Jefferson County Superior Court Judge Thomas Majhan.

During a bench trial, Majhan found Froehlich guilty of stabbing Tornensis to death inside a Quilcene mobile home. The judge said his decision was largely based on mutiple confessions — including a 14-page handwritten letter — that Froehlich provided to Jefferson County deputies.
