Sequim: House partially burned

SEQUIM — A rental home suffered $30,000 worth of damage in fire at 9:35 p.m. Tuesday.

The fire burned parts of the back porch and a bedroom in the house at 491 W. Hemlock St.

The house was owned by Jim Scharschimidt.

Sequim and Carlsborg firefighters responded within four minutes to a call from a neighbor.

The fire is believed to be accidental, but the cause is still being investigated.

No one was home at the time of the fire.
