ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Aubry Botkin, Port Townsend track and field

Aubry Botkin

Aubry Botkin

Port Townsend’s Aubry Botkin was a double winner at this past weekend’s Port Townsend’s home track meetin.

Botkin won both the 100-meter hurdles and the triple jump at the event. It was Botkin’s fourth first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles and her second first-place finish in the triple jump this season.

In fact, the only time she has been beaten in the 100-meter hurdles this year was at a 30-school meet, the Birger Solberg Invite, in which she lost to a pair of hurdlers from 3A and 4A schools.

Botkin finished second in the 100-meter hurdles last year at the state 1A meet and picked up an astounding total of 19 first-place finishes last season as an individual and relay member.

Athlete of the Week is brought to you by the sports department at the Peninsula Daily News along with the sponsorship of Swain’s General Store serving Clallam and Jefferson counties since 1957.
