I read with pleasure Pierre Labossiere’s article (“Port Angeles High School Roughrider Hall of Fame Announces First Class,” Peninsula Daily News, Oct. 25) in which he gave recognition and applause to our area’s past sports greats.
I especially remember Hank Wyborney, who, when I was 7 and he 14, wore a Superman cape and would jump off the highest tree stumps in our neighborhood.
Also, the Port Angeles High School football team of 1958-60.
In 1960, having already achieved Olympic League Championship, they went on to slaughter Kelso and Anacortes — both powerhouse teams at that time.
Our team included Briggs, Brohman, Lopez and my brother, Jim.
