PORT ANGELES — Future Riders Football kicks off the North Olympic Youth Football League season Saturday with a doubleheader against Port Townsend teams Saturday at Civic Field.

A C-squad game matching players in first-and second-grades will get the season underway at noon, followed by a B-squad contest between third-and fourth-graders at 2 p.m.

Typically, A-squad teams made up of fifth and sixth graders wrap up the day’s action with 4 p.m. kickoffs, but Port Townsend does not have enough players to fill an A-squad roster, so no A-squad contest will be played.

The Future Riders Cheer program also will be at the games supporting the teams and cheering on the action.

An announcer will call the game action.

All games are free and open to the public.

A concession stand will offer snacks, drinks and Future Riders gear with proceeds going to support the youth football program.

All Future Riders home games are held at Civic Field. Games return to Civic Field on Sept. 28 as Neah Bay visits Port Angeles.

Other teams in the North Olympic Youth Football League are Sequim, Forks, Chimacum and Neah Bay.

Sequim visits Forks on Saturday for games that begin at noon at Spartan Stadium.

Chimacum and Neah Bay have byes and will open the season Sept. 14.

Playoffs late October

The wild card playoffs will be held at Civic Field on Oct. 26.

Semifinal playoffs are set for Sequim on Nov. 2 and the league championship games will be held at Forks on Nov. 9.
