TRACK AND FIELD: East Jefferson boys win Nisqually League meet

SILVERDALE — The East Jefferson boys won a seven-school Nisqually League track and field meet at Klahowya High School, while the East Jefferson girls came in second.

The Rivals boys had 116 points, narrowly beating out Klahowya, which had 112. Klahowya won the girls meet with 158 points to East Jefferson’s 71. The Crescent boys were fourth with 58 points, while the Clallam Bay girls were fifth with 65.

The East Jefferson boys were especially strong in the distance events, while Rivals girls did great in the sprints. Joshua Yearian had a great showing, finishing first in the 800 meters in a time of 2 minutes, 14.35 seconds and first in the 3,200 (10:23.43). Noah Isenberg was second in the 800 (2:17.14) and Soare Johnston third (2:21.38). Johnston was also second in the 3,200 (10:42.14), while Isenberg was second in the 1,600 (4:59.39).

East Jefferson’s Nico Errichetti also won the triple jump with a distance of 32 feet, 5½ inches. East Jefferson’s Nikolas Erickson was second in the 200 meters (25.17 seconds) and third in the 100 (12.27).

Clallam Bay’s William Hull won the 300 hurdles in a time of 48.86 and was second in the 110 hurdles in 18.74.

In the field events, Neah Bay’s Daniel Cumming was second in the shot put with a distance of 41-0 and third in the discus with a throw of 107-01. Clallam Bay’s Cyrus Politte was second in the long jump at 17-7¼.

For the girls, East Jefferson’s Arden Moore had a great meet, winning the 100 (13.33 seconds) and the 200 (27.94), just edging out Neah Bay’s Angel Halttunen in the 200 (28.18) by 0.22 of a second.

East Jefferson’s Abby O’Keefe won the 400 meters in 1:06.19, while teammate Kaydence Plotner won the 300 hurdles (50.72).

The Neah Bay 4×100 team of Alexa Greene, Danica Halttunen, Brianna McGimpsey and Angel Halttunen took first place in a time of 55.56. McGimpsey also won the javelin with a throw of 90-5.

Crescent Naomii Sprague won the 100 hurdles in a time of 17.88, while her teammate Katelyn Dunavant won the discus with a throw of 87-3. Clallam Bay’s Liliana Scordino also won the long jump with a leap of 14-1¾.
