PORT ANGELES — Every Port Angeles player outscored all of Port Townsend’s team in an Olympic League boys golf dual meet at Peninsula Golf Club on Tuesday.
Senior Joe Barnes was match medalist for the second match in a row with a 1-over 37 to spark the Roughriders to the 208-297 victory.
“I like our consistency right now,” Port Angeles coach Mark Mitrovich said.
“To have scores in the 40s — the mid- to low-40s — at this particular point in the season is very promising for us.”
All five varsity players shot 46 or less with Barnes shooting two birdies and five pars on the way to his 37, while senior Garrett Payton and sophomore Alex Atwell were three shots behind with nine-hole scores of 40 each.
Payton had one birdie and four pars while Atwell shot six pars.
Junior Trey Hoover shot 45 with three pars.
“I’m enjoying having Trey Hoover in his first year playing on the team,” Mitrovich said.
“He’s filling in nicely on the varsity team and making contributions. He has definitely contributed to our two wins, and he is a fine addition to our team.”
Junior Austin Underwood, meanwhile, was right behind with a 46, earning one par.
Jack Bishop led Port Townsend with a 52 while Grayson Pennell was next with 56 and Keegan Khile shot a 61.
Ben Rolland scored 63 for the Redskins while Harry Doyle shot 65.
The Riders next play today against Olympic at Rolling Hills Golf Course in Bremerton.
The Trojans shaded Sequim 230-235 at Rolling Hills on Tuesday.
Chimacum 154, Bellevue Christian 163
FALL CITY — The Cowboys remained undefeated on the year at 2-0 with the Nisqually League win on a rainy and windy Twin Rivers Golf Course on Tuesday.
Jack Hilt paced the Cowboys with a team-best 3-over 37.
“It was about as miserable conditions as you can play golf in,” Chimacum coach Mitch Black said.
“The wind kicked up to 25 to 30 miles-per-hour with sideways rain.”
Two others shot in the 30s on the 34-par course for the Cowboys as Nathan Browning came in with 38 and Riley Downs shot 39.
Kevin Miller shot 40 while Cole Lovekamp was right behind with a 41.
Bellevue Christian’s Spencer Findlay shot a par 34 for match medalist honors while Sam Hayward and Matt G. Hall shot 42 each.
Barrett Wuerch and Hayden Jacobsen were right behind with 45 apiece while Chad Foster shot 46.

BREMERTON — The Trojans remained undefeated in the Olympic League while the Wolves fell to 2-1.
The match was played during a huge downpour at Rolling Hills Golf Course on Tuesday.
Low round was posted by Trent Ferris of Olympic with a 37, five shots bettter than the runners-up.
Sequim teammates Anthony Pinza and Travis Priest tied for second with 42 each, while Olympic’s Denver Carlilie took third with a 44.
Also scoring for the varsity were Sequim’s Jack Shea with 47, and Jesse Francis and Alex McCracken, both tied at 52 each.
Others scoring for Olympic were Aaron Kundera with 46, Sean Walters with 51 and Zack Thornton with 52.
Sequim’s next match is against North Kitsap at White Horse Golf Club in Kingston next Tuesday,

Port Angeles forfeit over Port Townsend
PORT ANGELES — The Redskins didn’t have enough players for a team and had to forfeit the Olympic League match at Peninsula Golf Club on Tuesday.
That didn’t keep the Roughriders from playing anyway with junior Dana Fox shooting a low score of 45.
“The girls played well considering the cold, wet and muddy conditions,” Port Angeles coach Beth Krause said.
Other scorers for the Riders were Kate Haworth with 66, Chloe Brown with 67, and Taylor Rutz and Maddie Boe with 68 each.
Boys Soccer
Sequim 2, Bremerton 1
BREMERTON — Mason Barrett scored the winning goal for the Wolves in the 68th minute on an assist by Nicholas Baird in a constant downpour Tuesday.
Barrett beat the Bremerton goalkeeper for the ball in the corner and slapped it home.
“We played OK, but not great,” Sequim coach Dave Brasher said.
“Considering the conditions and that we were playing on the road, we played well.”
Cameron Chase put the Wolves on the board first with a shot in the 21st minute.
The Knights tied it up in the 36th minute with the score deadlocked at 1-all at halftime.
Bremerton pressured Sequim early in the second half but the Wolves controlled the tempo in the final 20 minutes.
“Hector Baylon played stellar defense for us while center Dorian Halverson played well for us,” Brasher said.
“Lijah Sanford was solid in the back.”
Freshman goalkeeper Austin Wagner earned four saves in the game.
It was a low-shooting affair as the Wolves outshot the Knights 8-5.
The 3-1-0 Wolves next will host the strong Port Townsend Redskins (2-1-0) today.

Rochester 14, Forks 8
FORKS — The Warriors beat the Spartans in their SWL-Evergreen Division opener Tuesday.
The Spartans gave up three runs in the first but responded with five of their own in the bottom half of the inning.
The Spartans kept the lead until the sixth when Rochester scored five to go ahead 12-8.
Troy Johnson started on the mound for the Spartans and gave a solid performance.
Offensively for the Spartans, seniors Mitchell Leppell and Mark Jacobson were 2 for 3, sophomore Javier Contreas was 3 for 4 with 2 RBI, and Brett Pederson knocked in three runs with a bases-loaded triple in the first.
Forks next plays today at Tenino.
Softball
Quilcene 10, Taholah 6
TAHOLAH — Sammy Rae and Sophia Knutzen knocked three runs in each to spark the Rangers in Class B action Monday.
Quilcene took a 3-0 lead in the third inning but Taholah tied it up in the fourth before the Rangers broke it open in the fifth with six runs.
Rae went 2 for 4 in the game while Knutzen was 2 for 5 at bat.
Megan Weller had a strong offensive game by going 3 for 4 with two RBI.
Jerrica Viloria scored two runs while Alex Johnsen and Bee Sitthison scored one run each.
Rae went the distance of six innings on the mound, striking out 15 while walking nine.
“She made pitches when she needed to,” Quilcene coach Mark Thompson said.
Rae gave up only two hits.
The Rangers slugged out 12 hits and had just one error.

SEQUIM — The Wolves swept singles and won three of four doubles match to open Olympic League action at 1-0.
Hillary Smith defeated Amanda Turley 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles to start Sequim off on a strong note.
Also in singles, Anna Prorok beat Madi Skansi 6-3, 6-0 at No. 2 and Hannah Gauthum defeated Lily Masters 6-2, 6-1 at No. 3.
The Wolves also won the top two doubles matches as Karen Chan and Melanie Guan beat Wynter Anderson and Amanda Moreno 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1, and Heidi Stallman and Tenisha Powless defeated Jill Walkowski and Amanda Hancock 6-2, 2-6, 6-2 at No. 2.
Sequim lost a close match at No. 3 as North Kitsap’s Megan Cragg and Autum Johnson beat Kortney Oen and Anna Mittman 3-6, 6-3 (10-4).
The Wolves got back on the winning track at No. 4 as Andrea Tjemsland and Maggie Christie defeated Alyssa Beatty and Emily Belton 6-4, 6-3.
