PREP TRACK: Forks boys, PA girls win at Forks Lions Club Invite

FORKS — Dominating the field events and getting three first-place finishes from Cole Baysinger, the Forks boys won the Forks Lions Club Invitational meet, edging out Port Angeles 122-109.

The Forks boys won all the field events, with Luke Dahlgren winning the shot put (39 feet, 5½ inches) and the discus (133-10) and Baysinger taking the high jump (5-1), long jump (19-10) and the triple jump (39-8). Forks’ Skyler Steffan completed the field events sweep by winning the javelin with a throw of 122-8.

Meanwhile, the Port Angeles girls cruised, easily outdistancing the rest of the field with 158 points thanks to the Long sisters (Gracie and Millie), Lainnie Lyamba and the Roughriders’ distance runners. There was a good scrap for second as Forks just edged out Clallam Bay 80-74.

Baysinger was named the top boy of the meet and Millie Long the top girl.

Boys

Other multiple winners for the boys include Clallam Bay’s Ryan Strid, who won the 100- (12.25) and the 200-meter (25.23) runs. Port Angeles’ Caleb Flodstrom won the 110-meter (20.43) and the 300-meter (51.32) hurdles.

Port Angeles won both relay events. The Roughriders’ 4×100 team of Grady Bourm, Liam Clark, Logan Tyson and Trevor Shumway won with a time of 48.50 and the Riders’ 4×400 team of (Nolan Hughes, Bourm, Tyson and Thomas Shaw) took first with a time of 4:04.62.

Other boys winners include:

• 800 meters — Wesley Camacho, Forks, 2:24.71.

• 1,600 meters — Shaw, Port Angeles, 4:56.96.

• 3,200 meters — Matthew Larson, Forks, 11:46.59.

Girls

Port Angeles’ Lyamba joined the Long sisters as a multiple winner, taking first in two events, the 100-meter dash (13.62 and the long jump (14-11).

Freshman Millie Long won the 400 meters (1:04.60), the 100-meter hurdles (17.74) and the triple jump (32-8), edging Lyamba by four inches in the final event. It was the first time Long had competed in either the 400 or the triple jump and she immediately set Port Angeles season-bests in both events.

Gracie Long won the 1,600 meters (5:20.31) and the high jump (4-8).

Crescent’s Raine Westfall won two events, the shot put (30-0 1/4) and the discus (83-4).

The Port Angeles girls swept the distance events as Kynzie DeLeon won the 800 meters (2:30.31) and Maddie Dougherty won the 3,200 meters (11:50.0).

The 800-meter run was especially exciting as DeLeon won this distance event in just 0.14 of a second over Forks’ Marissa Bailey and 0.23 of a second over third-place finisher Lauren Larson of Port Angeles.

Clallam Bay won two relay events. The Clallam Bay girls 4×100 team (Kaylin Sgnor, Hannah Olson, Kendra Anderson and Miriam Wonderly) won with a time of 56.98 and the Bruins 4×200 team (Anderson, Signor, Olson and Wonderly) also won in 1:59.08.

The Port Angeles girls 4×400 team (Alisandra Baccus, Ellie Hiigel, DeLeon and Dougherty) won in a time of 4:37.35.

Other girls winners include:

200 meters — Wonderly, Clallam Bay, 29.28.

300-meter hurdles — Ella Damron, Forks, 1:02.90.

Javelin — Olson, Clallam Bay, 92-8.
