JOYCE — The Crescent girls got four first-place finishes from sophomore Naomii Sprague to win the girls North Olympic League track and field subdistrict title, while the Clallam Bay boys won nearly all the running events to take the boys championship.
The Crescent girls finished with 61 points to Neah Bay’s 41 and Clallam Bay’s 38. The Clallam Bay boys gathered 70 points to Crescent’s 50 and Neah Bay’s 37.
The Bruins boys won eight out of 10 running events. Jose Jimmicum took first in the 100 (12.22 seconds) and the 200 (26.81 seconds).
Mauricio Cruz won the 400 (58.44) and Cyrus Politte won the 1,600 (5:27.07) and the 110 hurdles (20.91).
William Hull won the 300 hurdles (48.74) and the triple jump (37 feet, 1 inch). Finally, the Clallam Bay 4×400 team of Cruz, Jimmicum, William Hull and Coletyn Hull took first in a time of 3:54.93.
Crescent’s Mikah Love won the 800 (2:31.24) and the javelin (111-7).
Neah Bay got two victories in the field events from Daniel Cumming. He took first in the shot put (40-3) and the discus (105-3, personal record). The Neah Bay 4×100 team of Elijah Lachester, Brent Reel, Cayden Smith and Cumming took first in a time of 51.78.
Finally, Crescent’s Cole Grooms won the high jump at 5-2 and his teammate Dominiq Sprague won the long jump at 18-0.
NOL Girls
Naomii Sprague won the 100 (13.91), the 200 (29.11), the 100 hurdles (18.21, personal record) and the triple jump (32-10, personal record).
Her teammate Katelyn Dunavant won the discus (90-8) and the javelin (95-3) while Alexis Dunavant won the shot put (34-7, personal record).
Neah Bay’s Ryana Moss had a successful meet by winning the 1,600 (5:59.09), the 300 hurdles (51.92) and as a member of the Red Devils’ 4×200 relay team. The quartet of Alexa Greene, Caylee Moss, Ryana Moss and Brianna McGimpsey won in a time of 2:01.0.
Clallam Bay won the 4×100 relay (Layre Martinez, Kyleigh Richardson, Bethany McKee and Liliana Scordino) in a time of 57.78 and the 4×400 relay team (Martinez, Richardson, Brilei Hull and Scordino) won in a time of 4:50.14.
Other winners include McGimpsey of Neah Bay taking first in the 400 (1:09.71) and Hanna Robinson of Clallam Bay winning the 800 (3:26.13).
Crescent, Neah Bay and Clallam Bay track athletes next compete at the Quad-District meet at Franklin Pierce High School in Tacoma on Thursday.
East Jefferson at Nisqually districts
VASHON —The East Jefferson girls track and field team sits in second place after the first day of the Nisqually District championships.
Day two of the meet will be held Tuesday.
East Jefferson has tallied 46 points, just behind Bellevue Christian’s 52.
Winning a district championship was Aaliyah Cassidy Yearian in the 1,600 in a time of 5:12.89.
Coming in second in the 1,600 was teammate Fiona Fraser with a personal-best 5:16.24. Yearian was also first in the prelims of the 800 with a time of 2:25.02.
Ellise Gardner won the district championship in the javelin with a throw of 113-6.
Kaida Rodrigues was third in the triple jump with a distance of 33-4½.
The best showing for the Rivals boys was in the 1,600 by Indigo Gould, who finished sixth with a time of 4:37.75. Most of the boys’ finals will be on Tuesday.
