PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles boys tennis team beat its Olympic Peninsula rival Sequim 6-1, winning all its doubles matches in straight sets.
“It was nice to see the guys come out ready from the first point,” said coach Port Angeles Brian Gundersen.
Gundersen singled out No. 3 singles player Garret Buerer as his player of the match. Buerer beat Mason Rapelje 6-4, 6-4.
“Garret is fairly new to singles and had a tough match that could have gone either way. He seemed to play his best on the big points and that’s why he got a tough win,” added Gundersen.
No. 1 singles player Tate Alton beat Jack Crecelius 6-3, 6-1. Lincoln Bear of Sequim picked up a victory, defeating Sky Gelder 6-2, 6-4.
The Port Angeles doubles teams of Luke Flodstrom/Nathan Basden, Austin Worthington/Kaetyn Hoch, Carter Gundersen/Carston Seibel and Liam Miller/Zach Neff all won.
