Schmadeke qualified to compete in all four gymnastics events — the floor, beam, bars and vault and just missed making the all-around podium, coming in 10th in the state with a personal-high 35.5.

Schmadeke’s score in the floor exercise was a 9.5. She finished 14th in beam with a score of 9.1, 15th in the bars with an 8.45 and 30th in the vault with an 8.45.

Schmadeke will be attending Augustana University in Sioux Falls, S.D., next year and will compete in acrobatics and tumbling.

Sequim sophomore Susannah Sharp also qualified to compete in the vault, while Port Angeles freshman Jessamyn Schindler qualified to compete in the vault and beam, though she was unable to compete due to an injury. Sharp was 24th in the vault with a score of 8.5.

Port Angeles senior Mei Ying Harper-Smith just missed qualifying for state by one-tenth of a point on the beam.
