PREP FOOTBALL UPDATE: Forks holds down Port Angeles; Cowan sets career passing yardage record for Sequim in big win; Port Townsend upended at home

FORKS — Forks’ running game produced two 100-yard ball carriers as the Spartans ran over Port Angeles 28-8 Friday night at Spartan Stadium as the prep football season kicked off in earnest.

Senior fullback Caleb Peters was a virtual lock to gain 5 yards every time he ran the football, totaling 18 carries for 101 yards and two rushing touchdowns for Forks.

Bruising classmate Tristen Pisani added 15 carries for 107 yards, including a 36-yard touchdown rumble through the heart of the Roughriders’ defense in the third quarter.

Port Angeles avoided the shutout with a late score coming on a 14-yard run to the pylot by quarterback Brenden Roloson-Hines.

Freshman running back Daniel Cable’s 51-yard catch and run set up the score for the Riders (0-1).

Port Angeles hosts North Thurston at Civic Field on Friday.

Forks (1-0) visits Sequim (1-0) on Friday.

A complete game story by Michael Carman and photos by Lonnie Archibald will be in Sunday’s edition of the Peninsula Daily News.
