• Tuna talk — John Keizer and Paul Castillo of saltpatrol.com will speak at the Puget Sound Anglers-East Jefferson Chapter monthly meeting at the Marina Room in Hudson Point Marina on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
Keizer and Castillo are two of the most well-respected fishing experts in the region. And they will be focussing on a hot and popular coastal saltwater fishery these days out west: albacore tuna.
• Tuna take — All it takes is one trip to get your fill of tuna.
Boats out of LaPush continue to bring back 30-40 albacore tuna with each trip into deep blue coastal waters.
Most have been heading out some 30 to 34 miles and finding fish with little trouble. As soon as weather calms down, the fishing should pick back up.
• Get clicking — Washington Trails Association is now accepting submissions for its seventh annual Northwest Exposure Photo Contest.
Prizes are awarded for first and second place in six different categories: wilderness landscapes, hikers in action, flora and fauna, trail maintenance, offbeat outdoors and young photographers (17 and younger).

• On the hunt — The rain couldn’t have come at a better time.
With the ground damp, hunters should have an easier time tracking down their prey this weekend.
Given that elk season opens Tuesday, and it’s much easier to walk up on a herd than a single deer, I suggest heading to the Clearwater and getting yourself a bull.
• Dawgs danced on — Washington couldn’t be much bigger Dawgs (+17 ½ points) going into Saturday night’s tussle with LSU.
The stench of last season’s failure may very well be lingering, but me thinks the Huskies have a shot at keeping it close.
Home crowd, low expectations, new coach . . . sounds like a recipe for an upset.
If betting were legal, I’d take Washington and not be too disappointed when they lose 38-21.
