A total of 39 teams and 195 golfers played in the seventh annual Sonny Sixkiller Husky Classic at Cedars at Dungeness on Friday. The winning team of Todd Negus, Paul Reed, Jordan Negus and Chad Wagner shot a 17-under-par 55 in the scramble event.
Chinook quota reached, shore-fishing only starts Monday in Marine Area 9
PORT TOWNSEND — Beginning Monday, retention of hatchery chinook salmon will close inMarine Area 9 (Admiralty Inlet).
Anglers will not be permitted to fish for salmon from a boat or other floating devicestarting Monday. The reason for this action is to protect expected low runs of wild cohoand pink salmon returning to the Skagit and Stillaguamish rivers.
Shoreline anglers can catch a daily limit of two salmon — chum, chinook and wild cohomust be released.
State Department of Fish and Wildlife estimates through Thursday indicate that anglershad caught 4,642 fish (83 percent) of the hatchery chinook quota of 5,599 fish for MarineArea 9.
The state anticipates reaching the quota limit for this fishery by the end of today.
The changes to the chinook fishery are in compliance with conservation objectives andagreed-to management plans.
Wilder Seniors fall
VANCOUVER — Wilder Senior opened its final tournament of the summer with a pair oflosses at the sixth annual Clackamas and Clark-Clackamas Invitational.
In their tournament opener, Wilder Senior were edged 4-3 by Boys of Summer Raptors onThursday, and were shutout 3-0 by Kent Bulldogs Elite on Friday.
Bo Bradow went 2 for 3 with an RBI single against Boys of Summer Raptors, while ColtonMcGuffey went 1 for 2 with a double and a run. McGuffey took the loss on the mound afterallowing two runs, one earned, on three hits and a walk with three strikeouts in twoinnings of work.
Tate Gahimer also had an RBI single for Wilder Senior.
Chance Wilson went six innings in the loss against Kent Bulldogs Elite, striking out fourand allowing three runs on six hits and three walks for Wilder Senior.
Luke Angevine and Kole Milyard each doubled to lead Wilder Senior at the plate.
Wilder Senior played Champion Baseball late Saturday and will wrap up its summer slatewith a contest against a to-be-determined opponent today.
Stick fighting sessions
SEQUIM — A free Eskrima stick fighting class for military veterans will be held eachSaturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in September in Sequim.
The class will be presented by Sequim Martial Arts and Sequim Doce Pares.
No stick fighting or martial arts experience is needed and all ages and fitness levels arewelcome.

SEATTLE — Jewell Loyd tied a season high with 27 points, Breanna Stewart had 20 points,nine rebounds and five blocks, and the Seattle Storm beat the Dallas Wings 109-93 onFriday night.
Stewart topped 500 career rebounds to set a WNBA record for fewest games to reach thatmark and also score 1,000 points at 55.
Seattle scored 34 points in the first quarter and led 60-45 at halftime behind CrystalLanghorne’s 14 points.
